Razor Led Lighting Now available to order from Aquahome

Razor Led Lighting Now available to order from Aquahome

The Maxspect Razor LED systems are very popular amongst serious aquarists. The R420r is constructed from an aluminium body, serving as a large heat sink, together with an ingenious aerodynamic design so cool air is channeled through the bottom of the unit and heat is dissipated through the aluminium chasis. The R420R also has a built in temperature controlled system so active cooling is engaged as and when needed to ensure optimized performance.
The R420R has 6 time points, meaning you can program your own photo period and fully control the intensity of light to your aquarium from dawn to dusk.
The R420R utilizes the most up to date high performance high intensity CREE XLamp XTE and XPE LED chips equipped with 90degree optics. This means the Razor lighting systems will consume less power yet producing moer PAR for even your most demanding corals.
The Razor or R420R as it is also known, utilizes the 410 and 420 nm super actinic chips, this is the spectrum that is crucial for the success of any reef and water plant aquariums as it is required by Chlorophyll A for photosynthesis, where absorption peaks at 412nm. In fact the Razor covers all major spectrums of light for enhancing growth rate in corals and plants, improving coloration and of course the best lighting for viewing.

December tropical fish of the month: ‘Orange Head’ Electric Blue Rams

Tropical – ‘Orange Head’ Electric Blue Rams

Its quite rare we get these in at Aquahome so they wont be around for long.  We quite regularly get the Electric Blue Rams in, but the Orange Heads are certainly something a bit different.  A relatively peaceful fish from the Cichlid family, the Orange Head Electric Blue Rams have a striking appearance and although from the Cichlid family are relatively peaceful.  They grow to around 3” maximum in length and prefer a slightly acidic lower pH than other tropical fish ideally.  Ideally the Electric Rams should be kept in an aquarium of at least 80 litres with plenty of plants and swimming space.  The Rams also need a few caves in which to hide and if breeding flat stones for the female to lay eggs.  Currently on offer £11.95 or 2 for £20
